President Basketball Yukon 12 years; Technical Coordinator for Basketball Yukon territory 7 years, Currently running Wolf Pack Basketball Development program. 

Tim Developed Basketball Yukon’s strategic and multi-year organizational plans, operation and maintenance budgets, annual YRAC grant applications, special program grants, policy initiatives and administrative and technical service contracts, 2004 to the present. He developed, facilitated and coached the Pan Territorial U-17 Men’s Basketball team 2010, 2007, 2006 and the Women’s Pan Territorial U-17 Basketball team, 2008.


SIGNIFICANT SPORT ACCOMPLISHMENT

  • Developed multiple strategic and organizational plans, budgets, program presentations and briefings at both the territorial and national levels for basketball. Prepared multiple annual YRAC and YS4L grant applications, special program grants, policy initiatives, administrative and technical service contracts, and various other program development submissions.

  • Developed, facilitated and coached Pan Territorial U-17 Men’s Basketball teams in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2007, 2006, 2014, and 2015 and the Women’s Pan Territorial U-17 Basketball team, 2008.

  • Developed and implemented various basketball training initiatives and programs from grass roots recreation based to elite player development programs throughout the North. Including:

    - The Intensive Training Basketball Program Initiative, (ITP Program);

    - Regional Training Center Program Initiative, (RTC Program);

    - All Territory High-Performance Camps for men and women;

    - Recreational basketball leagues and programs for children and youth.

    - Yukon’s Breakfast Basketball Program, 2002 – 2004;

    - Seasonal Basketball Camps / Clinics;

  • A four time nominee and two-time recipient of the Yukon Coach of the Year Award.

  • Recipient of the Team of the Year Award for the 2009 Men’s Canada Summer Games Basketball Team;

  • Government of Yukon Award of Recognition, 2012 Jr. Men’s Arctic Winter Games Gold Medal.

  • Four time nominee and two-time recipient of the 3M Coaching Award for Excellence in Canada.

  • Facilitated numerous NCCP Coaching Certification Course throughout the territory, 1998 –to the present;

  • Inductee Sport Yukon Hall of Fame, in the Coach and Builder Category, 2010.

In my late Elementary years I developed a love for Basketball, spending many of my summers on outdoor courts as well on the school teams during the academic year. In high school I continually played on the High Performance Regional teams, travelling to tournaments and competing in the Arctic Winter Games/ Western Canada Games.

What motivated you to get into coaching?

I’ve always had an interest in working with kids in sports, helping them learn the benefits of team play and physical activity. When my two sons started getting into basketball I was more than happy to help them along in the journey.

What do you love about being a Coach and coaching in the Wolf Pack Program?:

I really enjoy connecting with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Seeing them progress as athletes and individuals all while having fun in a safe and social environment. Big smiles, a sense of achievement and growing confidence.

What motivated you to get into coaching?

Throughout my formative years and into adulthood I was an avid basketball player. Along the way, I found an even greater passion for the art of strength training. What motivated you to get into coaching?:

The adults I looked up to most in my youth (besides Mom) were coaches. They inspired me to work hard individually and as a member of teams. Consequently, I’ve enjoyed trying to motivate young athletes in the same way. Coaching also gives me the chance to keep playing this great sport!

What do you love about being a Coach and coaching in the Wolf Pack Program?:

Over the years, many of our top players at Vanier have benefitted from the opportunities Wolf Pack provided them. Being able to work with new athletes now gives me the chance to help students that I am normally coaching against during high school seasons. I look forward to making them better players – in the long run, talented players at every school and in every community can only grow the game in Yukon.
