11U Girls Spring Player Development Program, (2025)
Player Development Program
Objectives: To develop a positive playing experience to help players and families engage with basketball.
Personal Values: Commitment, Teamwork, Empathy and Respect
Phase of Play Teaching:
Transition Offence: exploiting an essential numerical advantage (i.e. 2 v 1). Progression up the court in transition (passing ahead, getting ahead).
Offence: Penetrating the defence mainly through 1 v 1, initial getting open, and essential spacing.
Transition Defence: Protecting the basket (getting back home)
Defence: Stopping penetration (mostly 1 v 1 defence)
Methods: Conditioned fun games that allow children to understand space, dribble, pass, and shoot—low structure / high freedom (guided discovery). 1 v 1, 2 v 1 situations.
We will also be supporting children to develop a broad range of motor skills such as agility, balance, coordination, speed, and combinations of running, jumping, catching, etc).
The program will run from Monday, March 31, to Saturday, June 7,
For: Girls ages 9 to 11 (grades 4 - 6)
Saturdays: 10:30 to noon at the Whistle Bend School
Mondays: 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Whistle Bend School
Sessions will occur on the following dates:
Saturdays: April 5, 12, 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, June 7, 2025
Mondays: March 31, April 7, 14, 28; May 12, 26, and June 2, 2025
